Sunday January 22, 2012  NRA Range Safety Officer Course Starting at 9am

Course price is $60.00 for non club members and $25.00 for club members.  There is an additional fee of $25.00 to the NRA to register certification.

Pine Bluffs Sportsman’s Club is running a Range Safety Officer Sponsorship where the club will pay for the cost of the course and NRA registration for members volunteering time on the range acting as a Range Safety Officer during club open shoots and rifle sight-in days.

Pre-registration required – sponsorship may be limited by the board.

Courses are being given by Kevin Burns NRA Certified Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer.

On Saturday, July 30, there is an NRA Basic Pistol Class.  Great class to learn the basics of pistol handling and safety. This course satisfies Wyoming and Colorado CCW requirements.

On August 27, I will hold another NRA Basic Pistol Course

On August 28, there is an  NRA Range Safety Officer Course.  This course  will have special club member pricing of only $25.00. Get certified and help keep the club range safe for everyone.

Anyone wish to participate in the Appleseed Shoot can Sign up before 8am on the day of the shoot.

The rifle part of the range will be closes today June 4th and tomorrow June 5th from 8am to 4pm while the Appleseed Shoot is taking place.

On June 10, I will be offering my first evening NRA Basic Pistol course.  The classroom portion of the course will be presented that night, while the range portion will be on Sunday morning or another pre-arranged time.  I am at the range often so the schedule is flexible.  This is an NRA certified course and will qualify for a concealed carry permit. This course costs $60 for non-members and $55 for PBSCI members.  All equipment and training materials supplied.

On June 19, I will be offering the advanced pistol course.  This course is open to anyone with previous basic pistol training. Geared toward self-defense and combat shooting, this course will cover a natural stance and draw, automatic, quick malfunction clearing, and firing.  It will also cover one handed shooting (weak & strong), proper draw from holster, mindset, shot placement, and shooting positions. After a quick review of range safety rules and commands, the course will be primarily active shooting. This course costs $60 for non-members and $55 for PBSCI members.  You must supply your own firearm, ammunition, extra magazine, or quick loader.

Any club member involved in the NRA Winchester Marksmanship program please let me know if you need an instructor observer.   I will be happy to help out.

The Summer trap league will start June 5th, and Tuesday June 7th. Your team can pick either Tuesday or Sunday to shoot, for the league.

We are going to run 10 weeks, do our normal handicaping, and everyone will pitch in $5.00 for prizes. We will use the prize money for plaques, and a BBQ at the end. So for 10 weeks at $10.00 a week, Plus the prize money, it will cost each person $105.00 to shoot for the summer.

Your team may shoot ahead if you are not going to be there. If someone didn’t shoot ahead, and they are not there to shoot, you must use a sub. (The handicaping gets all messed up otherwise)

1. Cost: $5.00 per round of Trap (25 targets); $5.00 per round of Pistol (5 various targets, 6 shots each, 30 shots total).
2. Trophies/Awards: 5 categories.
3. Lunch available at the range: Pop/Water/Coffee, Hamburgers, Polish dogs, Chips and a variety of snacks.
4. Directions to the range: On I-80 turn at exit 401, go North to 6th Street, go West on 6th Street to US Hwy 30, go South on US Hwy 30 to Muddy Creek Road, turn on Muddy Creek road and follow it to the end—You are there.
